Maldives – Part 1: Fulidhoo

I visited Maldives in August 2022. It was the rainy season, but I had incredible luck with the weather. Most days were sunny and warm. Rain showers would happen rarely and only last for a couple of hours.

This trip lasted for about a month, and it was split in three parts:

Fulidhoo

Liveaboard, one week. Princess Sara, Best of Maldives

Thoddoo, Rasdhoo

Part 1 – Fulidoo

We landed on Male Airport, Maldives, at 10am after a long flight from Thessaloniki, Greece. Right across the airport there was a wharf where ferries would take visitors to nearby islands. We jumped on the next ferry to Fulidhoo, the northern of the inhabited islands of Vaavu Atoll in the Maldives.. The ride lasted for about 1.5 hours.

A school of stingrays showed up to welcome us.

After that we continued to the hotel thought the narrow dirt roads.

Fulidhoo is a tropical paradise, full of exotic trees, animals and birds.

Spent the day at the beach and had dinner. Not a lot of veggies, but the fish was fresh and deliciously cooked with spices.

A walk to see the sunset to finish the first day.

The next day we woke up and went straight to the beach.

Surprisingly, some stingrays and nurse sharks decided to play with us.

At night we went back to the wharf. Sharks had the same idea.

Some fishermen were selling huge tunas, which we later had as sashimi.

The third day we explored the island a bit more and visited the nearby beaches.

We went for a walk to the jetty.

And then, dinner. Not a lot of options, but the fish was fresh.

The next day we went back to Male, to start our Liveaboard with Princess Sara. One week full of diving, coming up!
